Do they know you Love them?

Love is an attitude and a spirit that you have towards a person; your orientation towards them.  It is not dependent on what they do for you but rather how you treat them.  If you love a person it means you treat them as valuable.  Consider what the Bible says about Love:

1 Corinthians 12: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

Think about looking at your relationships through this lens today.  Who do you treat with patience, kindness, humility, honor, service, gentleness, forgiveness?  If you thought to yourself that it is these people that feel loved by me, who would say that you love them today?  Try to give the people in your life this kind of special treatment and it may transform the quality of your relationships!

Without a relationship with Jesus Christ it is impossible to fully love others in this way because only He provides you with the power through his Holy Spirit to love when you’re not loved–the motivation to truly have an affection for people even if they mistreat you or misunderstand you.  Ultimately, it is because Jesus first loved us in this way that we are able to love others.  We accept our guilt for not loving Him though He loved us and rejoice that He always will.  Now we are able to have compassion on others because we know what it means to be loved in spite of our rebellion and ill will.  Jesus be praised!
